(Technology) – Google would give two months of free access to its cloud-based game streaming platform Stadia’s paid version with people confined to their homes because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Stadia can be accessed by users by downloading the app on their phones or by signing up on its website.
Google said its offer was open to 14 countries’ users from Wednesday and shall be rolled out over the next 48 hours.
Stadia Pro usually costs $9.99 a month and gives access to games like “GRID” and “Destiny 2: The Collection” in 4K resolution.
“To reduce load on the internet further, we’re working toward a temporary feature that changes the default screen resolution from 4k to 1080p.”
– Google statement
Google’s Stadia was launched in November and it is expected to compete with Microsoft’s upcoming Project xCloud.
