NEW YORK (US) – Alphabet Inc’s Google will permit its staff to telecommute until September next year thus extending their return to office by a few months, said the New York Times on Monday.
The company is also considering the idea of a “flexible workweek” once it becomes safe to return to office, said CEO Sundar Pichai in an email to all staff on Sunday, according to the newspaper report.
According to the proposal, employees have to work at least three days a week in the office.
“We are testing a hypothesis that a flexible work model will lead to greater productivity, collaboration, and well-being,” Pichai mentioned in the email.
Google was one of the first multinational firms to ask its staff to work from home when the pandemic broke out.
