MEXICO CITY (MEXICO) – The Mexican health ministry on Saturday reported more than 7,615 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus. It was a record rise in the number of single-day cases. This brings the national tally to 338,913.
According to the ministry, there were 578 additional fatalities, bringing the count to 38,888.
Government officials said the number of infected people could be higher than the confirmed cases.
The government’s head of epidemiology, Jose Luis Alomia, said Mexico must not let down its guard.
“We expect to have a long epidemic, so we have to change personal habits and protect ourselves from risk,” he said.
