(World) – On Saturday, global coronavirus cases approached 7 million, with a surge of cases in Brazil and India.
Approximately 30% of those cases are in the U.S., accounting for a total of 2 million. However, the fastest-growing outbreak is in Latin America with 16% of all cases.
All over the world, coronavirus deaths are approaching 400,000.
Within 5 months, COVID-19 deaths are now equal to the number of people dying annually from malaria, believed to be one of the world’s most deadly infectious diseases.
The first death was reported in Wuhan, China on January 10. It was in early April before the death toll passed 100,000 and 23 days to go from 300,000 to 400,000 deaths.
