DUBAI – The Orchestra Nazionale Jazz dei Conservatori Italiani (Italian Conservatory National Orchestra) took audiences at Expo 2020 Dubai on a journey through the exquisite history of Italian music tonight (21 February) at Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre.
From the post-war period to the present day, the magnificent orchestra – under the guidance of Pino Jodice – presented Neapolitan songs, singer-songwriters and soundtracks from Italy’s greatest composers. The melodies were reworked for the special performance at Expo 2020 Dubai to perfectly fit a jazz style, while still maintaining the distinguished Italian touch.
Embodying Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ through the universal language of music, the orchestra enthralled visitors from around the globe who came to see the lively concert.
An educational project set up in 2016, the Orchestra Nazionale Jazz dei Conservatori Italiani has performed a series of concerts in Italy and around the globe, as well as collaborating with world-famous artists, including Mario Biondi, Fabrizio Bosso, Sheila Jordan, and John Surman.
The concert was organised by the Italy Pavilion and promoted by the Italian Ministry of University and Research to showcase the country’s wonderful talent. The pavilion, located in Al Forsan, is presenting an array of events and performances throughout the six months of Expo 2020 Dubai.
