LONDON (UK) – Britain has suffered “one or two teething issues”, regarding export of fish to the European Union after Brexit, according to the country’s environment minister on Tuesday, in comments that are likely to leave fishermen struggling to trade in resentment.
Small fishing firms have largely not been able to export their goods to Europe after the introduction of catch and health certificates, customs declarations and higher transport costs post-Brexit, which made trade too expensive and had a slow pace for EU buyers.
“The border flows have actually been for most sectors very good,” Environment Secretary George Eustice told Times Radio. “We have had one or two teething issues on fisheries.”
