LONDON (UK) – Two players of Manchester City – reserve goalkeeper Scott Carson and midfielder Cole Palmer – and a member of staff have tested positive for novel coronavirus. This comes hours before their League Cup semi-final at Manchester United, said the Premier League club on Wednesday.
The trio is the most recent of a list of individuals at the club to become infected. City missed six players because of the virus in their 3-1 league win against Chelsea last weekend.
In a statement, the club said they will undergo a period of self-isolation in accordance with league and British government protocols.
Their match at Everton last week was also rescheduled after several positive cases were detected in their camp. Manchester City joins Newcastle United, Sheffield United and Fulham to have players who are COVID positive.
