LONDON (UK) – The BBC has reported that the UK failed to persuade the EU to accept that Turkish and Japanese car parts are British when they are used in Britain. This means exports of some automobiles would invite tariffs even if a trade deal is in place.
The BBC said it accessed a letter from UK’s chief Brexit negotiator David Frost to the car industry in which he said the country had so far failed to get the car parts deal it wants and “obviously cannot insist on it”.
