DUBAI (UAE) – Iran’s confirmed COVID-19 cases went beyond the 450,000 threshold on Tuesday. Identified infections were 3,677 in the last 24 hours, a health ministry spokeswoman told state TV. Its death toll spiked to 25,986.
Sima Sadat Lari said 207 people had lost lives in the past 24 hours. The total number of infection cases reached 453,637.
Though coronavirus has seen a surge in almost all of Iran’s 31 provinces, President Hassan Rouhani said last week that the government doesn’t plan on a complete lockdown.
However, Iranian authorities said some restrictive measures would be implemented again in Tehran and some other cities classified as “red”, on the basis of coronavirus risk scale.
