PARIS (FRANCE) – Bouygues’ will remove 3,000 Huawei-made mobile antennas in France by 2028. This has come after a decision made from the country’s authorities to swap the equipment made by the Chinese company from highly populated areas, according to Bouygues’ deputy CEO on Thursday.
French authorities have informed telecoms operators, who had plans to buy Huawei 5G equipment that licences for the gear would not be renewed by them once they expire. This would effectively push the Chinese group out of mobile networks by 2028, three sources said last month.
Bouygues’s deputy chief executive Olivier Roussat told, “A number of sites will gradually have to be dismantled.”
“The dismantling will be carried out over a period of eight years, with a limited impact on our operating results,” Roussat said.
