LONDON (UK) – A threat of strike is looming over British Airways as the trade union of cabin crew said new contracts given to the remaining staff did not promise stability and there could be substantial pay cuts.
Trade union Unite threatened the airline with strike in July. After a union meeting on Thursday, a spokesman said that he would instruct lawyers to go for industrial action.
Given the fact that Unite has not formally started the process, the strike, which has to be approved by a vote, is weeks away.
The carrier on Friday said that it had “received no notification of any ballot for industrial action”. It is the first step in a weeks-long process before a strike.
