LONDON (UK) – Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, on Thursday filed a lawsuit in a California court against paparazzi photographers for allegedly clicking “illegal” snaps of their son Archie.
They filed the lawsuit in the Superior Court of California, citing “serial intrusions” of privacy of their son who is 14 months old. They resorted to this measure to shield him from the “manufactured feeding frenzy.”
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are filing this lawsuit to protect their young son’s right to privacy in their home without intrusion by photographers, and to uncover and stop those who seek to profit from these illegal actions,” said their attorney.
The lawsuit also alleged that paparazzi used drones and choppers to violate the airspace above the residence of Harry and Meghan, violating their priavacy.
It stated that they did not seek any “special treatment”. Instead, they sought the right to be left alone within the privacy of their residence.
Last month, Meghan sought a court order to restrain a tabloid in Britain from disclosing the names of friends who could be witnesses in a lawsuit, citing their rights to privacy.
Harry and Meghan now live in Los Angeles after they relinquished their royal roles in March and seek new careers.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex told Britain’s biggest tabloids in April that there would be “zero engagement” with them in future because of their false and intrusive coverage.
