A bill is to be introduced by the British government in Parliament on Wednesday regarding legislation which is to put an end to the automatic rights that European Union vessels have for fishing in the UK’s waters.
Under the new Fisheries Bill, UK shall leave the EU Common Fisheries Policy by 31st of December once the Brexit transition period ends giving the UK the power to be an independent coastal state.
Under this new bill, Britain can operate its fish stocks in a sustainable manner out of the EU.
Access to fishing in UK waters in the future will be upon the UK to negotiate and they can narrow in on the rules that foreign vessels must adhere to.
Regaining control of the opulent fishing waters may create repercussions on the financial sector for Britain with regards to its final departure plans.
The financial sector is Boris Johnson’s priority in the trade talks, based on what can be ascertained thus far, but bank sources say that EU’s push for fishing access in UK waters and London’s uncooperative stance may lead them to review hard-Brexit plans.
The fisheries legislation had been flagged and Johnson’s spokesman said that taking control of UK’s fishing waters is going to happen for sure.
