LONDON- On Friday, the British government said that it shall implement an action plan to prevent power disruptions in the future after the August outage which affected over a million customers.
After the outage, a government-backed report had been commissioned and 10 actions have been recommended to reduce a similar event from happening again in the future.
The action plan included assessing need for governance improvements, to monitor and enforce processes for large and small generators and to review pros and cons of the National Grid’s Electricity System Operator (ESO) which holds up the additional back-up generation.
Andrea Leadsom, the Business and Energy Secretary, confirmed that the implementation of the action plan will be done in full.
