LONDON (UK) – In the history of music, for the first time197 musicians, one from each nation, have come together to form an orchestra, proving that people can transcend physical and cultural barriers and become one.
The song ‘Together is Beautiful’ of Earth Orchestra was recorded in different locations and then mixed. It was released along with a documentary narrating the story of some of the musicians on Friday.
Member of the orchestra Olgha Nk from Cameroon said the project took three years, adding that she saw it as “the whole world holding hands”. In a similar manner, other musicians too were amazed by its unifying element.
In May 2019, 57 musicians of the 197-member orchestra assembled at Abbey Road Studios in London to lay the groundwork for the song.
BAFTA-winning composer George Fenton supervised the project. However, many of the musicians improvised around his melodies and themes, by bringing in their styles as well as instruments indigenous to their countries.
According to Romanian musician and double bass player Michael Cretu, felt the song was exactly what the world needed right now. “It is more collaboration with everyone,” he said.
