ADDIS ABABA (ETHIOPIA) – In the Ethiopian state of Amhara, there were reports of two explosions in two cities. The state borders the northern state of Tigray where insurgents are fighting federal troops.
There were explosions in the cities of Bahir Dar and Gondar, according to Amhara’s communication office and the state’s news service.
A probe has begun to find out if the blasts are linked to the fighting in Tigray, said the Amhara communications office. There are no reports of casualties.
Ever since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed despatched troops to the region, hundreds have died in the fighting. The PM accused the local troops of attacking a federal military base there.
