SEOUL (Asia) – On Monday, South Korea reported its lowest new coronavirus cases since its February 29th peak.
The extended downward trend in daily coronavirus infections boosted hopes of recovery from Asia’s largest outbreak outside China.
Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) reported 64 new cases on Monday, bringing up the national tally to 8,961. The death toll has gone up to 110.
The new numbers mark the 12th day in a row that South Korea has posted new infections of 100 or less, as compared to the peak of 909 cases recorded on February 29th.
257 patients were released from hospitals after being placed in isolation. On the 13th of March, South Korea posted more recoveries than new infections for the first time since January 20th’s coronavirus case in the country.
