WARSAW (POLAND) – Poland on Monday insisted schools would be reopened next week. This would be the first time since mid-March in spite of hitting a record with regard to daily registered coronavirus infections late last week.
Poland was at first able to contain the outbreak, however, cases have started increasing in recent weeks and on Friday. Authorities have recorded 903 new infections, the highest daily number so far.
Education Minister Dariusz Piontkowski told, “Every child, teenager, goes out on the street or to the store and can get infected there. I don’t see the need to postpone the beginning of the (school) year.”
Children will have to wear face masks in classrooms. It would be upon the individual principals to impose the same in school halls and locker rooms. Temperature checks will not be introduced.
