LONDON- On Wednesday, Lloyds Banking Group faced an outage which left its Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers’ unable to access their online accounts for hours on end.
This online service disruption is a problem which happens periodically for banks in Britain. Last month, lenders were warned by regulators to resolve problems at the soonest.
Lloyds Banking Group customers complained on their social media about how they could not use and access their accounts via mobile apps or websites on New Year’s Day. This caused additional inconvenience since it also coincided with a public holiday when all the branches of the bank were shut.
The problem was fixed within a few hours. In the meantime, account holders could use cash machines and telephone banking services.
In statements released by Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, they alerted their customers when mobile banking and internet were back to normal. They also apologised for the issues with these services from earlier during the day.
