On average, female employees in Citigroup earn 27% lesser than male employees, not taking factors like title and location into account. This is a slight improvement as compared to last year by two percentage points.
For similar jobs in the same locations, on average, women are paid 99% of what their male counterparts are paid- more or less on par with last year.
Citigroup disclosed “raw” figures in the pay gap seen globally last year following pressure from shareholders to show the difference between the amounts it pays men and women.
In 2018, a British law forced corporations to disclose pay gap figures for their country operations on an annual basis. However, Citi is the only bank disclosing global metric voluntarily.
Citi human resources global head Sara Wechter said that transparency breeds accountability and last year, disclosure of the pay equity results was a step towards that.
