LONDON (UK) – As part of an Extinction Rebellion protest seeking action against climate change, 30 topless women locked themselves to the railings outside Parliament on Thursday.
The protesters carried a large banner that read “Can’t bare the truth?” and had words such as war, drought, starvation, wildfires, violence and famine painted on their chest.
Some of them used metal D-locks to attach themselves by the neck to the railings.
The protesters demanded the government should inform the public about the risks of allowing average temperatures across the world to rise by four degrees Centigrade, which they believe will happen by 2100 unless countries take action.
Home Secretary (interior minister) Priti Patel on Tuesday described the group as eco-crusaders-turned-criminals and said their “guerilla tactics” must be stopped.
“I refuse point-blank to allow that kind of anarchy on our streets,” she said referring to the group laying siege to two printworks.
