PRAGUE (CZECH REPUBLIC) – The Czech government on Wednesday mandated that all people should wear face masks inside public buildings from Thursday following a record surge in the number of new infections.
Health Minister Adam Vojtech came out with the mandate on Wednesday after 1,164 daily infections were reported.
“Due to the worsening epidemiological situation… we agreed with experts that we will implement compulsory wearing of face masks indoors across the Czech Republic as of tomorrow,” he said.
Though the country was one of the first nations to enforce face masks when the pandemic broke out, the rules were gradually relaxed.
Curbs have already been intensified in Prague after a spike in the number of cases and masks are mandatory on public transport and bars have to close by midnight.
