LONDON – The UK announced a rise in the number of coronavirus cases on Sunday, with 13 new infections bringing up the total to 36, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expects the number to rise further.
Johnson shall be chairing a meeting of the government’s emergency response committee, to improve attempts to tackle the coronavirus which began in Wuhan, China and claimed the lives of 3,000 people worldwide.
“We’ve found about 35 people in this country have, or have had, the illness and clearly there may be more. That is likely now to spread a bit more. I am very confident that this country has the capacity to deal with it.”
– Prime Minister Boris Johnson
The British government is working on a battle-plan to cope with the coronavirus and closures of public events and schools may begin soon.
If it continues to spread, retired health workers may be registered to work again. People might be encouraged to work from home till summer when the virus might get easier to deal with.
The total number of infected personnel is up to 35.
The government is all set to launch a new public information campaign to encourage people to wash their hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, more often than normal.
