LONDON (UK) – Heathrow Airport authorities said that one of its terminals would remain closed until the end of next year. The airport lost its title as the busiest in Europe after it posted an 88% dip in the number of passengers in November.
The pandemic has curbed air travel, restrictions across the globe and the second lockdown in England led to the slide in the number of passengers at the airport by more than October’s 82% decline.
The airport said that such slide in numbers would mean that Terminal 4 would be closed until the end of next year.
The airport group has initiated a law suit against the government decision to end tax-free shopping for tourists from January 1, which it said would cause job losses at the airport.
