Joe Jonas Files for Divorce from Sophie Turner

On Tuesday, Joe Jonas, the 34-year-old member of the Jonas Brothers, filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, the 27-year-old star known for her roles in “Game of Thrones” and “X-Men.” The divorce filing took place in Florida’s Miami-Dade County Court and cites the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner exchanged vows in a low-key ceremony at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on May 1, 2019, right after the Billboard Music Awards. Their wedding featured a performance by the country duo Dan + Shay. During their marriage, the couple welcomed two daughters into their family. Their first daughter, Willa, was born in 2020, and their second daughter, whose name remains undisclosed, was born in the following year.

According to the divorce documents, Joe Jonas is seeking joint custody of their two daughters. Additionally, the couple had a prenuptial agreement in place, which Jonas expects to be enforced.

Representatives for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have not provided immediate comments regarding the divorce filing.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s love story began with online interactions in 2016 when mutual friends sought to introduce them. They initiated contact through Instagram direct messages and met in person in October of that year. By December, they were exclusively dating. Their engagement was publicly announced in October 2017.

Sophie Turner, originally from Northampton, England, gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” a role she played for eight seasons. She also starred as Jean Grey in the 2016 film “X-Men: Apocalypse” and its 2019 sequel “Dark Phoenix.”

Joe Jonas, born in Arizona, rose to fame alongside his brothers Nick and Kevin as part of the band Jonas Brothers, beginning in 2005. The band’s success led to a Disney Channel series. They released their sixth studio album in May and are presently embarking on a tour of U.S. stadiums.
