Opera singer Placido Domingo tests positive for coronavirus

MADRID – On Sunday, Spanish opera singer Placido Domingo announced on Facebook that he had tested positive for coronavirus and is now in self-isolation with his family.

“We are currently all in good health but I developed a cough and a fever and decided to get tested, and the result came back positive.”

Spain is the second-worst affected city by the coronavirus outbreak in Europe, just behind Italy, with more than 28,000 cases and 1,700 deaths.

Domingo used to be the opera world’s most celebrated artists and his reputation is now in shreds after the American Guild of Musical Artists investigations concluding that he had inappropriately behaved with female performers.

Domingo apologised publicly to the women who placed accusations of sexual harassment on him.
