Here’s a quick summary of what has happened around the world over the last 24 hours, brought to you exclusively by British Herald

Local News

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson requested manufacturers in the country to boost ventilator production and has ordered private hospitals to prepare for more patient inflow from the public health service due to the coronavirus case surge. English health authorities announced that 10 more people had died due to coronavirus. This new number doubles the number of coronavirus-related fatalities in Britain since Friday. British food retailers pleaded shoppers to quit panic buying during the coronavirus outbreak stating that buying more than needed will leave others without anything. Retailers like Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons have come together to request customers via the British Retail Consortium (BRC) to become more considerate in how they shop. The letter with this plea shall be published in newspapers nationally on Sunday and Monday.

World News

Australia will impose 14-day self-isolation on international travellers arriving from midnight Sunday and ban cruise ships from foreign ports for 30 days, mirroring restrictions in nearby New Zealand aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the new measures after a meeting with a newly formed national cabinet, dubbed the coronavirus ‘war cabinet’.

The strict measures were designed to slow the spread of the global pandemic across Australia and help the country “flatten the peak” of the virus, Morrison told a news conference.
