Local News

In local coronavirus news, a second coronavirus related death has been confirmed in England and the patient already suffered from underlying health conditions and the total count of people affected by the coronavirus has crossed 163 in the UK. Those affected also include two members of staff from British Airways and they have been isolated and are recovering at home.

England shall soon formally register the COVID-19 as a “notifiable” disease. This move of marking coronavirus as a notifiable disease will allow companies to seek out compensation via insurance policies if any of their events are cancelled owing to the spread of the coronavirus.

World News

U.S. President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign sued CNN for libel, over an opinion piece that said the campaign had left open the possibility of seeking Russia’s help in the 2020 election.

The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Atlanta was the campaign’s third in 10 days accusing major media outlets of libel, following cases against The New York Times and the Washington Post.

All three lawsuits focused on opinion pieces published in 2019 that, according to the campaign, suggested it has had improper ties with Russia.

Trump has throughout his presidency battled news media he believes demonstrate bias against him. The Republican president often brands CNN, a unit of AT&T Inc as “fake news.”
