LONDON- The Shell Bonga oilfield in Nigeria is set to undergo maintenance in March and April. Royal Dutch Shell’s spokesman said that the impact on production as well as the exact maintenance dates are to be finalised.
The Nigerian Shell off-shore field is run by it’s subsidiary SNEPCo. In March, approximately 153,000 barrels a day of crude oil were to be sent out for export.
“The Bonga FPSO will be undergoing scheduled maintenance and project activities in addition to regulatory inspections during March and April. Exact dates and production impacts are currently under review.”

As of yet, no April programme seems to be out. Only two loading dates have come out so far for April 1-2 and 11-12 wherein 1-2 may be a deferral from loading in March.
Bonga North West is in the OML 118th block.
Shell plans to develop a Bonga South West field too inside the same area and this $10 billion development can add up to 200,000 barrels a day, which accounts for 10% of the country’s current oil production.
A final investment decision pertaining to the matter remains due to the uncertainty of future fiscal terms.
