On Friday, International Business Machines Corp withdrew itself from the RSA cyber-security conference owing to fears related to the recent coronavirus outbreak.

“The health of IBMers is our primary concern as we continue to monitor upcoming events and travel relative to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).”

The event was to take place from February 24th to 28th in San Francisco.

In a statement, RSA said it would proceed as per schedule despite IBM’s withdrawal from the conference and their decision to no longer participate as a Platinum Sponsor.

The IBM members who cancelled their registrations account for 0.79% of the total attendees expected.

A total of eight exhibitors, including IBM, withdrew- six of them from China, one from U.S. and another from Canada.

Facebook cancelled its global marketing summit scheduled in San Francisco next month for the same reason- fearing coronavirus.
