Wolverhampton defender Jonny to undergo surgery for knee ligament injury
LONDON (UK) – Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Jonny has injured his right anterior cruciate ligament, said the Premier League club, adding that he will miss the rest of their Europa League campaign.
The Spaniard was injured in the first half of their 1-0 Europa League victory over Olympiakos on Thursday. The club said the wing back will require surgery.
“… A scan confirmed the first clinical impression of an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament which will require surgical repair,” said the club’s doctor Matt Perry.
“This has been arranged and the whole team wish Jonny well on his path to recovery.”
The new Premier League season will begin on Sept. 12.
