WHO advance team to head to China to conduct an inquiry into virus origin
GENEVA (SWITZERLAND) – An advanced team of World Health Organization (WHO) has headed to China to organise an inquiry into the origins of the coronavirus which triggered the pandemic, a spokeswoman said on Friday.
WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris told a UN briefing, The two WHO experts, specialists in animal science and epidemiology, will work with Chinese scientists to assess the scope and the developments of the investigation. “They are gone, they are in the air now, they are the advance party to work out the scope,” she said.
She also added that the WHO will have no role in an independent panel, which will review how the pandemic is dealt with globally, Harris said, “From now on it is completely hands off”.
