Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s fiancee, Carrie Symonds, gave birth to a baby boy, according to Downing Street. Both mother and the baby boy, who was born at a London hospital, are doing well. Johnson returned back to work on Monday after testing positive for COVID-19. His fiancee Symonds appeared symptomatic of COVID but recovered swiftly.
The coronavirus testing scheme in the UK shall soon extend to a wider pool of people which includes those aged above 65 appearing symptomatic, and all residents of care homes, according to British health minister Matt Hancock. A pregnant Belgian woman diagnosed with the coronavirus has given birth to a healthy baby daughter – but must now learn to care for her newborn wearing, and sleeping with, a protective mask.
Baby Mahaut was born on April 23 in Brussels by caesarean section because of earlier complications not linked to the respiratory disease COVID-19, but which led to mother Amandine being tested, even though she showed no symptoms.
