The UK Parliament is back in action! Not physically though- via video conferencing app Zoom, the British Parliament’s long Easter break has drawn to a close. There are doubts on whether a system like this would work, but then again, we wouldn’t know unless we try.
In morose news, the UK coronavirus death toll is actually at a rate way above the numbers released by the government- the government figures are only indicative of hospital COVID-19 deaths. The real number stands at a whopping 41,000 deaths and counting.
The vaccine regulator in Germany approved live human testing of a potential COVID-19 vaccine developed by BioNTech.
The vaccine’s human trial is only the fourth worldwide of a preventive agent targeting the coronavirus. The trial will be conducted on 200 healthy people between the ages of 18 and 55 in the first stage followed by testing on further people, including those at higher coronavirus risk, in a second stage.
BioNTech was developing the vaccine candidate called BNT162 partnering with pharma giant Pfizer. Vaccine tests were also planned in the U.S., once regulatory approval for human testing had been secured there
