LONDON (UK) – Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said on Saturday that he was worried about the life of Prime Minister Boris Johnson when he was hospitalised with coronavirus in April.
As he was recovering, Raab stood in for Johnson for almost a month. The prime minister became ill in late March and was placed in intensive care at one point.
“I really worried we might lose him and I was worried for Carrie pregnant with baby Wilf,” Raab will say at the virtual conference of the Conservative Party conference later on Saturday, reported The Times.
His comments in the wake of US President Donald Trump being admitted to a military hospital near Washington after he tested positive for the virus. For the next few days, the president will work in a special suite at the hospital.
Raab told the newspaper that he had never met the Democratic candidate for the presidency, Joe Biden or any members of his team.
The minister said he had good ties with senior Democrats and the outcome of the election would not affect relations between both countries in any way, the Times report said.
“The strength of the friendship between Britain and the US I think is in great shape whatever the outcome in November,” he told the newspaper.
