LONDON (UK) – The British government is slowly and cautiously intending to restart the economy, according to British housing minister Robert Jenrick.
This statement came before the prime minister’s address to set out plans to start easing the coronavirus lockdown measures in place in the country.
It has been approximately seven weeks since Britons have been told to stay at home to prevent coronavirus spread in the government-mandated coronavirus lockdown, all but shutting down the economy.
“The message … of staying at home now does need to be updated, we need to have a broader message because we want to slowly and cautiously restart the economy and the country.”
– Robert Jenrick, British housing minister
The easing of the lockdown is going to be conditional on if the infection rate begins to increase in some areas, more stringent measures might be re-introduced.
