Thumb fracture forces Lavillenie to give Diamond League a miss
GENEVA (SWITZERLAND) – French pole vaulter champion Renaud Lavillenie will not make it to the Zurich Diamond League event later this month as he fractured his thumb during a training session.
“I underwent tests that showed a fractured thumb, I will undergo surgery tomorrow,” tweeted the 2012 Olympic champion on Wednesday. In his message, he said he would be back in action at the end of August.
Lavillenie held the world record until it was broken by Sweden’s Armand Duplantis last February. The french champion was scheduled to take part in the Zurich event on July 9.
