VIENNA (AUSTRIA) – Vienna witnessed thousands of people taking to the streets on Saturday to protest against the curbs on public life aimed at stemming the spread of the pandemic. This comes as Chancellor Sebastian Kurz’s government is holding discussions about extending the curbs.
Many of the protesters were without masks as they chanted and held up signs saying “Kurz Must Go” and “Make Influenza Great Again”.
Austria has been placed under a third lockdown with only shops selling essential items allowed to open. The nation has reported nearly 390,00 coronavirus cases and almost 7,000 COVID-19 linked fatalities since the pandemic spread last year.
