Over 30 years ago, Sofronis the founder, embarked on a vision to sustain the Tohni Village quiant hillside of traditional argo-tourism housing.
A family run business with a passion for hospitality that shows no sign of slowing down.
Tohni village tavern and retreat
Draped in mature gardens, over 40 rental units including villas with private pools, decorate the narrow coble streets and hills of Tochni with a seamless fusion of old and new and a classical warmth expected of traditional island villages in Cyprus.
“ Disconnecting comes naturally here… ”
Fifteen minutes from Larnaca, I turn off the Limassol highway to take what appeared as a road to nowhere.
A few slopy fields with nothing around and then suddenly, up a slope and around the corner, the entrance and arrival area come to site.
I arrived slightly early for a weekend away from the typical crowds of mass commercial resorts, to hang out with my eldest daughter Mary, 12. On entry to the reception area we were greeted with an authentic smile and a warmth that remained consistent throughout our stay.
Sofronis, founder of Tohni Village Tavern & Retreat
As we walk around, every corner reveals an era of when life was slower, simpler, quieter.
Disconnecting comes naturally here, and although WiFi is available free in every unit, choosing to disconnect for the weekend came easy.
Known for its traditional Cypriot Meze and freshly cooked meals, the ‘Tohni Tavern’ is open to non-residents and popular amongst the local.
Located next to the main pool area and reception area, the tavern is uniquely perched along the peak of the village hill, offering a cosy panaramic view within its natural gardens.
An Eden, I would say.
“… a definate recommendation would be their Homemade Spinach Ravioli “
We were already booked for dinner later that evening and a village breakfast is served there in the morning.
I will confess, its not my first visit here, and I never leave without ordering their homemade Spinach Village Ravioli…
And even if you are unable to stay the night, the dinner is an experience in itself.
Escape, rejuvenate or try something new
A lure of activities are easily coordinated on request. Delve into mindful meditation or book your morning ‘Hatha Yoga Session’.
Maybe a nearby winery tour or have you ever thought about trying horse-back riding?
There’s something for everyone here. Not to mention, the location is just a short drive away from the Blue-Flag Awarded ‘Governor’s Beach.’
I’m signing off now, but I’m putting the contact details below, in case I’ve inspired you to take a different kind of break.
Stay safe and well❤️
