LONDON – A prominent British scientist Robin Shattock made a significant breakthrough on the development of a vaccine against coronavirus, reducing the normal development time from “two to three years to just 14 days”.
Shattock is the Imperial College London mucosal infection and immunity head and is now in the process of commencing animal testing the vaccine as early as next week with human studies planned for next summer considering the securement of adequate funding.
Using the conventional approach, a minimum of two to three years are required to get to the clinic and this new breakthrough can generate a candidate in a laboratory setting in 2 weeks.
However, this vaccine shall be a little too late for the outbreak that has currently plagued the world but shall be helpful in subsequent attacks.
