WASHINGTON (US) – US electric carmaker Tesla Inc has slashed the price of its SUV Model Y by $3,000, said the Electrek on Saturday.
The mid-sized SUV is now sold at $49,990. The report said that the Performance version will be updated with a new configuration.
The SUV was rolled out on March 14 last year. It was a much-anticipated crossover expecting competition from European carmakers.
The carmaker said in April that Model Y was already profitable, marking the first time in the firm’s history that one of its new vehicles raked in profit in its first quarter.
Tesla delivered 90,650 vehicles during the second quarter, against the projected estimate of 74,130 vehicles. It delivered 80,050 units of its new Model Y SUV and Model 3 for the quarter.
