ZURICH (SWITZERLAND) – In a bid to help its employees safely return to office after the lockdown, Siemens has come out with a Comfy mobile phone app for hundreds of its offices around the globe.
Across 30 countries, more than 100,000 Siemens employees will gain access to the application that provides data on occupancy levels and updates on the pandemic situation at the local level so that they can work in a safe manner by maintaining social distancing norms.
Employees who are concerned about fellow workers getting infected can use the contact tracing feature on the app which was created under a joint partnership with Salesforce, a US-based software developer.
If a worker is suspected of having the infection, the app can block the desk in a given area, said the firm which is selling the app to outside customers.
At first, the app will be available in half of Siemens’s 1,300 factories and offices.
Last week, it announced that it would allow its staff to work from wherever they want for three days a week.
