MOSCOW (RUSSIA) – President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Friday called for an agreement between Moscow and Washington guaranteeing zero cyber-meddling in each other’s votes.
He said ahead of the US presidential election, he wanted an agreement between both countries to put an end to such incidents in cyberspace.
“(I propose)… exchanging guarantees of non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, including electoral processes, including using information and communication technologies and high-tech methods,” he said.
According to US intelligence agencies, Russia had meddled in the 2016 presidential election to tilt it in Donald Trump’s favour by hacking Hillary Clinton’s campaign. However, Moscow denies the allegation.
