Russia opens case against Google for failing to delete banned content

MOSCOW (RUSSIA) – Russia’s communications watchdog Roskomnadzor has opened a case against US tech giant Google for failing to remove some content prohibited in Russia, the TASS news agency reported on Monday.

Global tech companies were in the spotlight in Russia last week as lawmakers presented draft legislation that could enable the government to restrict internet access to social media platforms deemed to have discriminated against Russian media outlets.
