On Thursday, Facebook named U.S. Treasury’s former deputy secretary, Robert Kimmitt, to its board as the lead independent director and the position was effective immediately.
“The lead independent director is an important role for us and we’ve been looking for a leader who can bring significant oversight and governance experience.”
– Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO
Facebook also stated that at the upcoming annual stockholders meeting, Jeffrey Zients, Cranemere Group CEO will not be standing for re-election. He will, however, continue to serve in his role as director until the meeting day.
