LOS ANGELES (US) – Prince Harry has warned of a “global crisis of hate” which is affecting the mental health of people while speaking on Tuesday against social media negativity.
Harry and his wife Meghan led an online discussion which lasted two hours and it was hosted by Time100 Talks and they said they had met this year in order to campaign for more compassion in online forums.
“This is a global crisis. A global crisis of hate, a global crisis of misinformation and a global health crisis,” the prince said during the opening remarks for the “Engineering a Better World” discussion.
His wife said it was important to make online interactions healthier.
“This isn’t solely a mental health or emotional well-being problem. This is a human problem. And what’s happening to all of us online is affecting us deeply offline,” she said.
Last week, Meghan revealed she had closed all her personal social media accounts and did not bother to read what people were saying about her on the virtual platforms.
