PORTLAND (US) – Ted Wheeler, the mayor of the city of Portland, was stung by tear gas when he joined protesters on Thursday morning. Agitations are going on against racial injustice and police brutality.
For weeks, protests have rocked the city forcing the police to lob tear gas shells and baton-charge protesters.
When he arrived at the protest site, agitators jeered at him, demanding his resignation.
When he stood outside the Portland’s Justice Center, Wheeler, who was seen wearing a face mask, was affected by tear gas that he started coughing.
Federal agents in the Center come out at regular intervals to hurl smoke bombs and tear gas at agitators. There were bigger crowds on Wednesday.
