NEW YORK (US) – Charles Kolean, a Dallas investment industry worker, was overjoyed to take a photo with President Donald Trump last week after he won a Republican fund-raising contest.
Little did he know that the elation would turn to shock.
On Monday, the member of the Dallas Young Republicans was isolating at home to avoid a spread of the coronavirus after coming in close contact to Trump who tested positive last week, a day after the donors’ event.
Kolean said, “I was really surprised to hear that because he has looked so healthy the night before.”
“I plan to quarantine for the full 14 days and have another COVID-19 test if I start having symptoms,” he added. He has had one negative test since returning home. Trump’s presidential election campaign and New Jersey officials got in touch with him about his potential exposure.
Kolean was among about 60 VIPs at the event, which had a guest list of around 200 people, on Thursday, at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. Guests typically made donations between $5,600 to $250,000 to Trump’s presidential re-election bid so as to get an invitation.
Participants contacted said safety protocols for participants relied on coronavirus testing done on a rapid scale.
