Not aware of $5 billion education fund in US TikTok pact: Bytedance

NINGBO (CHINA) – Chinese firm Bytedance, which owns short-format video app TikTok, said on Sunday that it was for the first time it heard news reports about coming up with a $5 billion education fund in the US.

There were reports that US President Donald Trump approved a deal, which also included an education fund, allowing TikTok to continue operating in the US.

“The company has been committed to investing in the education field, and plans to work with partners and global shareholders to launch online classroom projects based on AI and video technology for students around the world,” the firm said on its official account on Toutiao.
