BEIJING (Asia) – On Friday, Mainland China reported new confirmed coronavirus cases had fallen to a two-week low. This comes as infections involving travellers coming in from abroad fell sharply.
26 new cases of the coronavirus were spotted in mainland China on Thursday, a drop from 46 cases a day earlier, which has been the lowest daily total since April 3.
Of the new coronavirus cases, 15 of them were imported infections which is the lowest since March 17.
The 11 confirmed cases remaining were locally transmitted infections, a drop of 12 from a day earlier.
The new local coronavirus cases were in Guangdong, Heilongjiang, Shandong and Liaoning provinces.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases is now up to to 82,367. New asymptomatic cases increased to 66 from 64 a day earlier.
Patients with no clinical symptoms such as a cough or a fever are not included in China’s tally of confirmed cases. No new deaths were reported.
